Urban beaches and harbor baths in Danish cities
The harbor baths have excellent facilities for both young and old, they are usually free of charge, and they have lifeguards on site for most of the time they are open. Here are the best places for urban swimming in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, and Odense.

Islands Brygge harbor baths are located in one of the capital’s busiest areas and offer views of the towers and the spires, the glass and the steel. With five pools and three diving boards at 1m, 3m, and 5m, the baths attract everyone from families with small children to acrobatic daredevils, and there are plenty of cafés, ice cream shops, pizzerias, and coffee shops just a stone’s throw away.

The harbor baths at Sluseholmen in Sydhavnen are pleasant harbor baths with a children’s pool, youth pool, exercise pool, and a diving pool. Views of both modern new buildings and green trees.

Fisketorvet harbor baths
Vesterbro’s urban harbor baths are next to the Fisketorvet shopping center in Copenhagen harbor and have three pools: one for children, one for exercise, and one for diving. There are boards at 1m, 3m, and 5m.

Kastrup Sea Baths
Kastrup Sea Baths are architecturally beautiful and offer views across to the island of Saltholm and to Sweden beyond. There are diving boards at 3m and 5m and quite deep water, so families with young children are advised to stay close to the shore. Atmospheric lighting in the evening.

Amager Beach Park
The whole of Copenhagen comes to Amager Beach Park, which has miles of inviting sandy beach, a lagoon for the children, running tracks, and the grassy areas of Femøren and Tiøren. It also offers all kinds of water sports, beach sports, and events, as well as ice cream stands and cafés.

Svanemølle Beach
Østerbro’s very own sandy beach was constructed in 2010 and is a nice little sandy beach with a 130m-long pier. Widely considered to be Copenhagen’s best beach. Child-friendly and very popular.

Aarhus
Den Permanente
The Den Permanente bathing facilities are just 2.5km from the city center, and since 1933 have been a popular place to enjoy the hot summer days. Den Permanente is in a scenic location, with the water and beach set against the backdrop of a beech forest.

Aarhus harbor baths
Here swimmers can test their strength against the elements and the open sea. The harbor baths at Aarhus Docklands in the city center are open to all, but are mainly recommended for open water swimmers with some experience and equipment such as a wetsuit and goggles, as the currents and temperatures are different in the open sea than they are in enclosed harbor baths.

Odense
Odense harbor baths
Odense harbor baths open on July 1 in the middle of Odense harbor with space for 300 visitors at any one time. The harbor baths have views of both the modern port buildings and green trees. There is no separate children’s pool, but children can swim in the shallow end of the pool, which has a depth of 0.8m.

Aalborg harbor baths
Aalborg’s beautiful harbor baths are located right in the center of the city, next door to Jomfru Ane Park. The baths have two children’s pools, an exercise pool, and a diving pool with 3m and 5m diving boards.
