This brand specializes in quirky, hybrid-style denim pieces remade by hand from vintage and second hand garments, making them unique and sustainable. All pieces are handcrafted in the brand’s own atelier.

New York Grill
This is not a fashion tip per se, but one of the best Tokyo experiences you can have is to dine at the New York Grill within the Park Hyatt hotel. It has panoramic views over the city from the 52nd floor and you may recognize the place from Lost in Translation – a key scene was filmed here.

United Arrows Beauty and Youth
You’ll find several United Arrows shops in Tokyo, but this particular one has a resident eatery called Pizza Slice. Shoppingwise, there are three floors of fashion by various cool brands as well as a good selection of vintage. My super stylish friend Poggy owns the place.

Trunk hotel
This is a relatively new hotel, located just off Cat Street. It’s hip and young in feel, and lots of designers and other creatives come here to hang out. There’s a good café and restaurant with focus on local produce, and I often pop by even when I’m not staying at the hotel.

Deus Ex Machina café
Seek this place out if you’re after a very good cup of coffee. It’s a bikerstyle café – complete with motorcycle workshop – and fashion store rolled into one. There are always lots of fashion types sitting outside during warmer months – a perfect place for peoplewatching.

Pigsty
There are lots of vintage stores along trendy Cat Street, and Pigsty is one of my favorites. I always find amazing pieces here. Look out for the tin pig on the pavement and you know you’ve come to the right place! You’ll find a good selection of clothing and accessories for men, women and kids as well. Pigsty also has a massive warehouse in Osaka that I can highly recommend.
